Michelangelo and his paintings are some of God’s greatest gifts to us!

Thanks for your apt recognition and acknowledgement that the Holy Spirit was working successfully through him.

In my opinion, no one could produce both the quality and quantity of works elevating God who was not closely obeying the Spirit.

Good Morning Dan, and happy Friday to all.

Appreciate your work here; to see these details up close, is really exciting. Some of the poses are difficult, but not for such a master as Michelangelo.

Everyone who stops by loves these works, some of the most famous in the world. Thank You Dan.

One of the results of this Bible-art series has been to expose viewers to able artists who were not as famous. Even the casually interested is somewhat familiar with Rembrandt and Michelangelo, but now Doré and Tissot, and Kim and Mironov and....

Here is some education...I was looking up the wiki entry on the chapel and got down to the music section. Something I didn’t know was that musical instruments since it’s inception in 1483 had never been used in the chapel. Only choral singing a cappella until 2014 when Rosemary Seimans played a violin there for the first time ever. This video link on youtube is very amateurish taken by a phone no doubt in the audience. It goes black for a while but it records this historic moment of the first musical instrument ever played in the chapel other than the human voice. It’s Amazing Grace that is performed. Even better is discovering this talented young lady’s youtube channel where she performs the most beloved hymns in a much more professional way. She is also amazing.

Half a millennium with no music?! What was the point?

No there were choirs and singing but no instruments. Why I can only guess. Maybe some back then thought instruments weren’t holy or something.

thought instruments weren’t holy

I have read arguments making that very point, despite an abundance of Scripture to the contrary.
